About Miss Jane!

After 22 years of teaching Australia to tap. Glamour Puss Studios founder and head mistress to the stars Miss Jane has GONE HOLLYWOOD, bringing her unique brand of tap and glamour to the entertainment starved population of America.

Miss Jane began her professional tap dancing career in the 1990’s with camp cabaret icons “Calamity Jane and her Tapping Cowpokes”, the darlings of Melbourne’s Fringe cabaret circuit ,including The Melbourne Fringe Festival, The Brunswick Street Festival, The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and Midsumma Festival as well as every 2 bit cabaret venue in town, as popular for their signature tap dance to Neil Diamond’s “Cracklin’ Rosie” as much as their gold hot pants and cowhide chapps.

In 1997 Miss Jane opened Glamour Puss Studios Tap Dancing Academy on the smell of an oily sequin, and quickly established the studio as Melbourne’s camp and quirky home of tap and glamour, treasuring dancers of all sizes, shapes, ages, abilities and fashion senses, and welcoming everyone from adult absolute beginners to retired Las Vegas showgirls.

The school quickly exploded to become Melbourne’s largest school for adult tap dancers, and the home of Miss Jane’s Tapping Glamour Kittens, a troupe of between 6 and 300 polka dot clad tap dancers, always ready to appear at your wedding, school fete, TV weather forecast or parade.

Miss Jane’s Tapping Glamour Kittens appeared at endless Melbourne events and locations including: The Melbourne Moomba Parade , The Myer Christmas Parade, The Victorian Arts Centre, Melbourne Museum, The Exhibition Building, Federation Square, City Square, Southbank, Flinders Street Station, the Royal Melbourne Agricultural Show, Parliament House, Luna Park, and St Kilda pier.

In 2002 Miss Jane founded Melbourne Tap Week, a week long celebration of all things tap, centred around International Tap Dancing Day. Melbourne Tap Week has hosted Australia’s greatest tap dancers and musical theatre stars, including “Singin in the Rain” star Wayne Scott Kermond, Bobby Fox, Sean Robinson, and Richie Miller, and International guests including Rusty Frank, Brenda Buffalino, Movin’ Melvin Brown, Disneyland’s Shelley Nichols, Ray Limon and Postmodern Jukebox’s Alex McDonald.

2002 was also the year Miss Jane was asked to take over the reigns of Miss Lou Lou’s Tap Dancing Academy, and the two studios ran successfully under the Glamour Puss Banner.

Miss Jane’s end of year tapstravaganzas have become legendary in Melbourne. She has produced and hosted 22 of them, including “Solid Gold Dance Explosion” at Chapel off Chapel, “The twirly whirly girlie show” at The National Theatre, “Miss Jane’s faux Fur Filofax” at The Atheneum Theatre, “Tinsel Town” at Memo Music Hall, and “Show Queens” at Australia’s largest theatre, The Palais.

In 2010 Miss Jane started splitting her time between Melbourne and Palm Springs in California, and in 2015 started guest starring in Los Angeles’ longest running Christmas Show “The Fruit Cake Follies”, becoming the show’s host in 2019 .

In 2019 she was also awarded an alien of extraordinary abilities green card, to live and work in America full time.

In 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, she passed the Melbourne Studio on to one of her proteges ,made the big move, and is now based in Palm Springs California with her lovely boyfriend, and an uninvited lizard.

Miss Jane now runs in person classes in Palm Springs, California in conjunction with The City of Palm Springs, and Glamour Puss Studios Palm Springs. She teaches on line worldwide with The International Glambassadors of Tap. Contact her below for more information.
